Slothful Jeremiah, Shaquille O'Neal's Amish personality, spawned when on April 11, 2017, a Tumblr user questioned the shit-posting techniques of the Amish. Another user replied with the "Sleeping Shaq" meme, but instead of naming his Shaq, the user called him Slothful Jeremiah to mock Amish culture. I was intrigued when I first saw the KnowYourMeme.com headline because I had never heard of this meme. After researching and reading about it, I give the "Slothful Jeremiah" meme a 6.5.

Thicc is a slang term used to describe the voluptuous, hourglass-like curvature of a woman’s hips. Online, the term has seen widespread usage as a descriptor for images of bootylicious women, in the same vein of the slang expression “dat ass”, and a popular subject of parody images featuring fictional characters from various media franchises. The word can also be used ironically. If a teacher does that thing where they bend down to help another student but sticks their butt right in your face, you might whisper to a friend "Thicc." I give thicc a 8.8.
Slime compilations have been around for awhile now. The goal of stretching and poking slime is to "satisfy" viewers and keep them coming back for more. The concept is similar to ASMR. The satisfaction one gets from watching the videos is actually real! Some therapists even recommend these videos for stress and anxiety. The memey part about slime is mass amounts of it that people purchase or make. Several slime enthusiasts spend hundreds to thousands of money on slime each year. Personally, I enjoy slime videos, and rate them a 8.0.
Evan Breen is a vine user whomst made several hilarious vines. One of which is the "Jordan" vine. It starts with Breen rolling up his window and saying "yo me and my boys are going to see uncle kracker," but then the window closes on his hat and he believes his friend Jordan who has stolen his hat. He soon gives up on scolding his friend and turns around only to be scared by his hat. I give this vine a 7.3 because it tells a story unlike several vines I have seen.
Ah Riff Raff. One of society's most promising creations. From his braided cotton candy hair and shark grill to his Jawdins he is truly a product of the millennial generation. He started off as a small-town rapper in Houston, Texas, but due to social media presence, he gained a massive following. One of his most famous songs, "Tip Toein' in My Jordans," was popular on Vine in 2016. I love the video above so much that I give Riff Raff an 8.6, despite his white trash appearance.
The origin of this popular catchphrase is in the early 2003 when Dave Chappelle made a skit on his own show called “Chappelle’s Show”. His skit is called Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories and this has 2 parts. The origin of the catchphrase is in the second part. Rick James, played as Dave Chappelle, was on cocaine and slapped Charlie Murphy in a bar. Then Charlie got angry and slapped him back. I give this meme a 4.5 because I love the simple humor behind it.
"Yeah, sex is cool, but..." is a meme with infinite endings. Both satirical and sincere, these endings have risen to one of the top spots in meme culture today. The first instance of online usage was 2011, 2017 being the year it was most appreciated. I do not enjoy this meme as much as others do, and I give it a 4.3.
The "Why Weren't You at Elf Practice?" meme surfaced as early as 2005, when YTMND user bobby22 posted the video clip. Only until now, has it been truly recognized as a meme. The humor in this meme is subliminal, not everyone will find it as hilarious as others will. I love this meme and give it a 6.5.
The "Kevin Watch the Light Dude" is a vine that has made its way into several vine compilations. The video consists of a pillow fight between two comrades. The kid in the grey shirt closest to the screen is named Kevin, and Kevin is about to smash his light. The camera man warns Kevin against this danger, but after a slight pause, Kevin destroys the light anyway. The timing is very comical as well. The video ends just as Kevin hits the light so the viewer knows Kevin hits the light but not the reaction him hitting it receives. I give this meme a 7.3.
