The "It's Gonna Be May" meme spawns from the Nsync song "It's Gonna Be Me" when Justin Timberlake has a slight accent when saying the word "me." Now, the meme is used at the end of April for basically scamming and reposting purposes. I give the meme a 3.2 because it gets annoying after awhile. We get it. It's going to be May.

Yeezy Slides are a pair of sandals designed by rapper, recording artist and music producer Kanye West. Online, people didn't take too kindly to the design. The shoes have compared to a Lego, a Scooby Doo Fruit Snack, and other squishing, royal blue objects. On April 19th, 2018, Kanye West tweeted a picture of a single blue sandal with a ridged bottom with the caption “Yeezy slides.” I probably will never buy a pair of Yeezy slides as I have never bought any of their slightly more fashionable products. I give this meme a 2.2.
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is Bethesda's 6th Elder Scrolls game in the series, and probably its most hilarious game as well. A myriad of script errors have transformed into memes; from the generated dialogue of the CPs to the flaws in the animations, Oblivion is most often known for its failures. I LOVE discovering new videos revealing major script errors and overall funny Bethesda content. I give this meme a 9.8; I left out 0.2 because there are always those people who post videos that aren't funny and lead me into wasting my time.
The "Apyr" meme didn't spawn its fame by itself. The meme that brought it into existence was the "Out of Your Friends/ Which one are You?" image macro. The "Out of Your Friends/ Which one are You?" is a diagram showing four stereotypes of Southern men. The "Apyr" meme replaces the lower left panel labeled "Laid Back." The humor the "Apyr" meme exudes originates from the confusion one feels while viewing the image of this fictional beast. Truthfully, Apyr is a character from Fallout 4. Youtuber Pewdiepie simply gave it a name and put it in another meme and called it a day. This meme was well made so I give it a 7.8.
I have never watched the TV show "Stranger Things" and I probably never will; however, that's where this meme originates so I will try to do my best to explain it without making horrendous mistakes. The audio overlay to almost every video made is the "Stranger Things" theme song, indicating that they are replicating the upside down world when the second self catches the phone. In its most basic form, each video starts with a person holding their phone then subsequently dropping it and their "mirrored" self catches it. This meme was created on April 5, 2018 by YouTuber AdrianOchoaFilms and has been recreated a myriad of times since then. I give this meme a 0.3 because I don't watch "Stranger Things," the meme will be dead in a week, and I don't find it enjoyable to any degree.
The "Throwing Plate" meme spawned from the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode "Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs" when Mac hands Dennis a plate and Dennis simply tosses it to the side. As a part of the object labeling
On February 12th, 2017, a Facebook page titled “Things full of beans that shouldn’t be full of beans” was created, and gained approximately 187,000 likes in three months. Later on, various social media users were inspired to create their own bean masterpieces and post them online. Several examples are included above. I give this meme a 7.6 because I hate beans but enjoy this meme.
The "Memes Then vs. Memes Now" meme refers to charts comparing more straightforward memes of the late 2000s and early-2010s to the more surreal and shitpost memes of the late 2010s. This meme debuted in late 2016 and took its shape throughout 2017. I remember liking the "top text/bottom text" memes. Now, they seem cringey and ridiculous. I give this comparison meme a 7.5 because it gives me nostalgia and is also slightly funny.
The "If Earth Isn't Flat" meme was originally created in October 2017 when Joshua Garcia posted a picture of a flat AND curved shoe to a Ultimate Guitar message board. The meme continued to develop on Facebook and Reddit until it blew up on every social media outlet available. I give this meme a 4.2 because although funny, the joke gets old very quickly.
The word "yeet" has two origins: one referring to the yeet dance move and the other referring to the action. First, the yeet dance was introduced around February 2014, making it approximately four years old. The dance was created when Marquis Trill uploaded a video of his friend "yeet-ing;" however, Trill credits several other people for the creation of it. Soon after, rapper Quill made a song titled "yeet" and the Facebook page "Yeet Dance" became popular. What really brought the dance move into its spotlight was a vine uploaded by Jasmine Nicole featuring a student performing a yeet. Several thousand images and videos spawned from the vine and the yeet had become popular; however, in today's culture, the term "yeet" is more commonly used as an action. Yeet-ing something involves a mighty throw in a direction away from the original yeet-er. This phrase originated in July of 2014 when an unidentified viner uploaded a video of her friend yeet-ing an empty can down a school hallway. Ever since then, yeet-ing is often compared to throwing an object with great force. Check the Urban Dictionary definition for further explanation. I give both "Yeet" memes a 3.5 because although slightly comical, they are not anything to be excited about.
